As a man, I’d say you’re not alone in your experience, fears, and desires. My baggage seems too much and I don’t have a solution. I have a diagnosed mental illness that I manage well I think.
To me ethics, values and courtesy supersede gender roles and sexual stereotypes. It makes it a lot easier to pay up! There is plenty of time later on in the dating cycle to talk about my abhorrence for gender roles and how uncomfortable with sexual stereotypes. But I have just learned that certain things are not worth fighting, and it’s not like I am going on 5 dates per week and can’t afford it.
